About The Cascade Bicycle Club Web Site

Cascade Bicycle Club's current Web site launched in October 2002. The new design supports Cascade's new branding effort across all pages of the site, and creates a visitor friendly environment by implementing a uniform look and feel, and site-wide navigation. As of Dec. 2003, our site received 19,000 unique visitors per month, and over 100,000 visitors per month.

The site is built with Macromedia Cold Fusion and Adobe GoLive. This site is optimized for viewing at 800x600 resolution, with 16k colors. The site supports Internet Explorer and Netscape 4.0 and above browsers. To manage the wealth of site information, some content, like free daily rides and many modular elements, is dynamically generated to allow for easy updates.

Creating the new site required a lot of communication. Scott Marlow managed the RFP process with over 20 vendors. Over months, input and feedback was gathered from staff, event directors, eight standing committees, contractors, and volunteer web editors to develop the site requirements. The site has more than 1,500 pages to serve its 7,400+ members and the greater Seattle bicycle community.

Note: If you are interested in submitting new content for the Cascade Web site, please contact M.J. Kelly at m.j.kelly@cascadebicycleclub.org with your ideas. Writers of regionally-specific resource-oriented articles can receive byline credit with hyperlinks, as well as coverage/credit in the Cascade Courier.

Photos on the site are provided by MyRaceDay.com, Joe Zauner of NWRaceReport.com, Marathon Foto, and a few are stock photos. We hope to change photos every year for a fresh new look.

Much of the site's layout and navigation is based on our volunteer Web editors' work, who we'd like to recognize. The following individuals have been instrumental in helping get the site to where it is today:

Mike Anderson,
Daniel Becker,
Charlie Buchalter,
Jim Carson,
Mike Eddy,
Carolyn Flory
Chris Gilbert,
Michael Hoodes,
Scott Marlow, and
the RAW Committee

We would like to thank Sylvia Vargas and Roseanne Ferrara for their initial volunteer work developing our concept site map. Most importantly, we thank Joel Meyers and Tim Godfrey of Fuse IQ who we hired for this project. Tim and Joel spent many hours above and beyond their contract handling special requests for committees and tweaking the site. Their professional advice and leadership helped us create a more robust communication vehicle for members and the greater bicycling community.

Fuse IQ is available to help other non-profits with professional Web development and consulting services. You can contact Tim and Joel at info@fuseiq.com.

For feedback about the site, please try to direct your comments, questions, ideas and concerns to the appropriate Committee or staff person responsible for the respective area. For general feedback on the site (issues pertaining to the whole site), send e-mail to m.j.kelly@cascadebicycleclub.org
